Probably to Sony’s much chagrin, a homebrew loader for the PS Vita will be made available today by Hacker Wololo. The homebrew loader uses a specific exploit found only in a specific PSP game: Motorstorm Arctic Edge. This game was previously available via the PlayStation Store, but Sony, in response, has already pulled the game leaving you to find your own means to acquire this hard to find game. According to Hacker Wololo, the homebrew loader will give a “limited PSP homebrew experience” (check out the video to see him playing DOOM). Given that Sony has pushed for proprietary memory cards due to “security concerns”, they’re probably none to happy to hear this.
On February 28, Sony recently published new sales figures that account for the worldwide sales of the PS Vita now that it is available to North and Latin America, Europe and PAL territories as well as in Singapore. Previously, the PS Vita was only available to the Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea markets. According to Sony, sales of the PS Vita exceeded 1.2 million units. Not too shabby for the newest portable gaming system. Hopefully, this will motivate even more publishers to develop new games for the PS Vita. We’ll have to wait and see.
